    Starting Up Your Hot Tub

Below is our step-by-step guide for starting up a new Beachcomber Hot Tub. When your hot tub is delivered, you have the option to have a qualified technician from our team complete a wet start of your spa, that includes filling and balancing the water. If you are interested in this option please speak to your local dealer or a member of the Beachcomber team as you complete your hot tub purchase.

How To Start Up Your Beachcomber Hot Tub

    STEP 1: Fill & Condition

Before anything else, ensure the Drain & Fill valve is closted and the Guillotine valves are open. Please consult your Owner’s Guide if you have any issue identifying these components. Using the FRESH FILL™ pre-filter attached to your garden hose start filling up the hot tub. Once hot tub water is up past the skimmer, you are now safe to turn on the power at the GFCI. Turn on FLEXJET Pump and open air control dials to purge any air out of lines.

After the hot tub is circulating with all bubbles out of the lines, add ELIMINATE™ to protect your hot tub from corrosion and mineral build-up. Then add a weekly dose of ELIMINATE PLUS™ to sequester metals and prevent staining, PUREZYME™ to prevent scum build-up and PURE BLUE™ to prevent cloudy water and give water a sparkle; Or add a dose of CARE FREE which is Beachcomber’s weekly 4-in-1 conditioner.

    Product Details

FRESH FILL™ hot tub pre-filter easily connects to your garden hose and works with all hot tubs. It utilises food grade activated carbon and proprietary filtration media for the removal of metals, volatile organic compounds and suspended solids before they reach your hot tub.

ELIMINATE™ is a liquid concentrate formulated to prevent and inhibit corrosion on hot tub surfaces, fixtures, and equipment. Add an entire 500 mL bottle at every hot tub start-up.

ELIMINATE PLUS™ is formulated to prevent stains and calcium scale in hot tubs and improves water clarity in hot tub water by sequestering metals. To be used as part of a preventative weekly program.

PUREZYME™ is a natural microbial enzyme formulated to eliminate scum, reduce odours, and improve water clarity and sanitizer efficiency by disrupting biofilm formation and accumulation. To be used as part of a preventative weekly program.

PURE BLUE™ is a highly concentrated, liquid clarifier formulated to clear cloudy hot tub water and restore its sparkle. It is designed to coagulate suspended micro-particles to form masses large enough to be removed efficiently by the Microfilter™. To be used as part of a preventative weekly program.

CARE FREE is the industry’s gold standard in water care systems. CARE FREE is a 4-in-1 weekly water care system that replaces traditional water conditioners such as sequestering agents, oxidizers, biofilm disruptors and clarifiers. It is designed to use in conjunction with the CARE FREE BOOST™ sanitizer.

    STEP 2: Heat & Accessorize

To start your hot tub water for the first time, it’s convenient to start in the evening to allow the conditioning products the time they need to do their job overnight. Once your hot tub is running and circulating it is the perfect time to add or replace your hot tub accessories such as FILTER SAVERS and HYDRO MOP and turn up the heat so you and your family can be soaking away blissfully in a few short hours. The hot tub will begin to heat to your pre-set temperature or 100F (38° C) as a factory pre-set temperature. For extra comfortable silky smooth water, add a dose of SOFT to your water, your friends and family will notice.

    Product Details

HYDROMOP™ absorbs unwanted oils and residue from your hot tub water to ensure the optimal water clarity and keep water lines clean.

FILTER SAVERS  are made from a fine nylon material which traps leaves and debris which reduces maintenance and extends the life of your MICROFILTER™

SOFT is a universal water enhancer that creates soothing comfortable water, improves water quality, and helps stabilize pH levels.  Soft is blended from natural occurring borate salts and is an excellent skin moisturizer, especially for those who suffer from dry skin conditions. Add before each use or weekly as desired.

    STEP 3: Balance & Sanitize

Nothing is more important that testing your hot tub water and ensuring everything is perfectly balanced for bather comfort, water care product efficiency and hot tub equipment longevity. Use your Beachcomber test strips to determine your water care balance requirements.

Add your Sanitizer/Oxidizer (Cl) or (Br) – 3 – 5 ppm – Use a Beachcomber BOOST or BLAST product. Refer to the sanitizer/oxidizer program that you are using for your hot tub, treat the water by distributing your oxidizer directly into the circulating heated water, and wait 15 minutes for the relaxation to commence.

    Step 4: ENJOY!

Make use of the following products to continue enjoying the best use out of your Beachcomber Hot Tub.

  • Cloudy Hot Tub Water

    Cloudy Hot Tub Water

Sometimes water in a hot tub can go bad. It’s not common, however having 1200 liters of circulating, cloudy and smelly water can be extremely irritating.

Think of a mountain stream. Clear, cold, refreshing. That water is being continuously dragged over the rocks, through the sand, and through the vegetation. That makes it clear and beautiful to look at. We mimic nature in a similar concept with our hot tub water being pulled through the Microfilter many times to help it stay clear.

Elements that contribute to cloudy water

    • Lack of sanitizer
    • Not rinsing your microfilter
    • Unbalanced water
    • Not enough water cycles
    • Old water

Water should be drained every three to four months and shock treated with Chlorine or Bromine about every month. If it’s a heavy bather load, you may need to do both more often.

Beachcomber’s Pure Blue can help coagulate larger particles in the water, pulling them together so that the Microfilter can catch them. All those tiny particles floating in your hot tub tend to make the water hazy or cloudy. That’s why it’s important to keep your Microfilter clean and rinsed.

If you are still unsure about how to clean your water, you can call one of Beachcomber’s hot water experts any time or contact Beachcomber Care.

  • Caring for your Beachcomber Hot Tub

Caring for your Beachcomber Hot Tub

Since 1978, Beachcomber has been dedicated to combining innovative technology with top quality customer service. Whether you’re a first-time Beachcomber owner or a long-time Beachcomber lover, we want your experience with us to be relaxing and enjoyable. That’s why we have put together some popular questions on maintaining your hot tub.

Q:           Where do I drain my hot tub water?

A:              Your hot tub water can be drained directly into your backyard, however you need to neutralize the active sanitizer in the water prior to draining. Beachcomber’s Water Care Product “NeutrAll” is what we suggest you use to get the water ready for draining. Simply follow the directions on the label of the bottle and add directly to the water. Let the product circulate for an hour to ensure all active sanitizer is neutralized, then drain away!

    Filter Cleaning

Q:            How often should I clean/change my Microfilter?

A:             Your Microfilter should be rinsed at least once a week, and depending on how often you use your hot tub and how many people are using it, you may want to rinse it more often than that.

Your Microfilter will last from two to four years. We recommend having a spare on hand, just so that when one is in use, the other can be available as a replacement.

Q:            How do I clean the internal plumbing?

A:             Regular shocking and simple maintenance of your hot tub to keep water clean will help to keep internal plumbing clean. However, if the hot tub is under heavy use, super chlorination is a great way to get rid of biofilm in the pipes.

Beachcomber’s product called Deep Clean 5 is an effective internal pipe cleaner. We recommend draining your tub and cleaning its plumbing about every three months under normal use.

    Winter Preparation

Q:            How do I prepare my hot tub for the cold weather?

A:             There is no need to prepare your hot tub for winter. Our hot tubs are designed to run in any weather, in all seasons. With 3 wall insulation system in LEEP, and the 4 wall insulation system in Hybrid3, you get the very best in energy efficiency and protection from the cold.

If you are going away for an extended period, it’s a good idea to leave your hot tub running and heated while you are away. This will simply prevent potential freezing. In areas where you receive a lot of snowfall, having a sheet of plywood to cover the hot tub can help to distribute the weight on the cover.

    Cloudy Water

Q:            How do I get rid of cloudy water?

A:            Cloudy water happens in a hot tub if there has been heavy usage, or if the hot tub has been left for extended periods without shocking. If your hot tub water is cloudy, try rinsing the Microfilter and adding our product Pure Blue, then wait about an hour. Once you have done this, shock the water with the sanitizer you are using and leave the cover half open for about a half hour.

If cloudy water persists, you may need to drain your hot tub. If you are ensure or have any more questions about cloudy water, call one of Beachcomber’s Development Centers to talk to a Beachcomber Care person, or call your local Beachcomber Store for help.

    Beachcomber Hot Tubs Quality

If you’re worried about the quality of your hot tub, we’re here to help! Since 1978, Beachcomber has been dedicated to using innovative technology and top quality materials to bring our customers the best hot tubs on the market. So rest assured, you never have to worry. But if you have any questions, we’ve got the answers to some of the most popular questions our customers have. If you have a question you don’t see the answer to below, feel free to contact Beachcomber Care.

How Can you tell if a hot tub is high-quality?

Look for features like flexible jetting, insulation, digital controls, a quality cover, fine cabinetry and a proper foundation floor.

Does high quality cost more over low quality?

High quality will cost you far less in the long run. Just in energy costs alone – if you purchased a spa with little or no insulation, you will spend thousands of dollars more for energy costs over a five year period and longer. Our quality construction methods of 100% Cavity Sealed Insulation helps you save money on energy consumption.

Should I even be concerned about quality?

The quality of a hot tub is directly related to the life of a hot tub, and the amount of time and money that you’ll to spend over the years. Since 1978, Beachcomber has a track record of quality with form, fit and function. We believe that high quality is best for our customers, to give them a hot tub that will last for over 25 years.

Are all hot tubs and spas not the same quality?

There are varying degrees of quality levels throughout the hot tub and spa industry. Some manufacturers must serve shareholders who demand a consistent large profit. Others do the absolute minimum to ensure that they make the money to stay open. Others still build spas with little to no insulation that negatively affects energy efficiency.

Why should I worry about quality when I get a warranty with it?

The problem with a warranty is that it is designed to protect the manufacturer, not the product owner. Warranties carry exclusions, limitations and exclusions that ensure that the manufacturer is protected. Beachcomber’s Guarantee doesn’t have fine print like this – it’s a 100% straightforward, no fine print Guarantee. We feel this is best for our customers.
