At the end of the day, there’s no part of our bodies that works harder or is more punished than our feet. You often hear people say they can’t wait to “finish the day and put their feet up”, but what about doing more for your feet than just laying them on the sofa?
When your feet are under stress, blood flow is limited. Plus, depending on your choice of footwear and daily agenda, your muscles and ligaments can be left constricted and inflamed. That’s why it’s so important to your health and happiness to give back to the muscles that keep you upright!
The Beachcomber Reflex Foot Massager
A hot tub foot massage drastically improves circulation, transporting oxygen and nutrients to cells as the blood flows to the affected areas. At Beachcomber Hot Tubs, we looked specifically at how we could create a hydrotherapeutic experience that effectively combats foot fatigue. Our team of engineers worked to deliver a massage configuration that delivered professional-grade results. The result is our Reflex Foot Massager!
Providing intense jetting power to the feet, the Reflex Foot Massage (RFM) fixture fits into our spacious footwell. The upward jetting ensures that you are getting full relief to the one area you really may need it the most.
As Reflexology shows, your entire body is represented by and connected to your feet, meaning that caring for that part of your body can improve the health and wellness of all of your limbs and organs. Whileimproved mood and increased relaxation are some of the benefits of our Reflex Foot Massage jets, listed below are a few more (you might not expect)!
By improving the blood circulation in your foot, RFM jets help with the recovery and strengthening of the muscles in your feet. Adding foot and ankle strengthening exercises and stretching can further prevent injuries and speed up recovery time.
Lowers Blood Pressure
High blood pressure has become very common among people in our high stress society. A 10-minute foot massage session three times a week can significantly reduce the stress inflicted upon your body by the effects of high blood pressure and anxiety.
Helps Relieve Pain from Flat Feet
People with collapsed arches or flat feet often experience pain after physical activity because of inflammation and ligament damage. Regular deep massages from our RFM jets can help ease or even cure these pains.
With the chillier fall weather back in the air, kids back in school, and long vacation days of summer behind you, it’s a time many of our owners tell us when they get the most frequent use from their Beachcomber Hot Tub.
More time spent enjoying the hot tub shouldn’t mean more time spent maintaining the water and mechanics. That’s why it’s important to follow a few simple rules when it comes to hot tubbing, that will keep your water sparkling, even under frequent use.
Hot Tub Etiquette Checklist:
Do: Shower Before
You always see signs posted at public pools and hot tubs asking you to shower before entering, and might be wondering, is that really necessary? The short answer is yes. Even a one minute shower can heavily reduce oil, dead skin, and dirt that you might not realize you’ve picked up throughout the day. By reducing the amount of contaminants on your person, you reduce the risk of them entering your hot tub water and adding maintenance to keep it balanced. Another little known fact is that showering before can also reduce that chlorine smell that many people associate with pools and spas. Chlorine only produces that familiar smell when oxidizing contaminants.
Don’t: Bring Food
While a snack in a hot tub might sound fun, we discourage this for a number of reasons. First, your health. Remember when your mom told you not to go swimming until 30 minutes after eating? Entering the water speeds up your blood flow, and can cause discomfort if you are in the middle of digesting a heavy meal. The second and more obvious reason to avoid eating in a hot tub is the crumbs that inevitably end up in the water, quickly dirtying the hot tub.
Do: Keep A Clean Swimsuit Handy
Just like showering before a hot tub removes the contaminants on your body, keeping a clean swimsuit will keep you covered, without covering your hot tub with added dirt and debris. Give your swimsuit a rinse after use, or if you have an outdoor shower, take a quick dip under in your trunks before slipping into your Beachcomber Hot Tub.
Don’t: Use Glassware
While glassware is an absolute no-go around a hot tub, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t’ keep water handy. It’s extremely important to stay hydrated before, during, and after a hot tub soak, as the process of hydrotherapy naturally heats up your body and leaves it more dehydrated. That’s why the second you bring home a hot tub, the first follow-up purchase you should make is plastic water glasses and bottles that are safe to use around your Beachcomber. While grabbing the nearest kitchen glass might seem harmless, a hot tub a slippery environment, and losing your grip on glassware can be extremely dangerous and costly in a hot tub.
A hot tub is more than just a place for entertainment. For years now, research has shown that frequent hot tub use is a critical building block in sustaining a healthy, happy lifestyle. One of the lesser known benefits of hot tubbing is the impacts on your mental health and clarity – and all it takes is 15 minutes a day!
Mental Clarity In A Hot Tub
While stress is unavoidable, what many of us don’t realize is it also inhibits circulations and leads to heightened blood pressure. When we are overly stressed, our hearts work harder and digestion slows down. Nearly every process in the body is negatively affected. Research has even shown that up to 80% of disease is stress related.
The jets in a Beachcomber Hot Tub are specifically designed to pinpoint major pressure points throughout the body to better stimulate the flow of blood and speed of the body’s processes. This boost in circulation will help your mind and body enter into a state of calmness, and has been clinically shown to reduce anxiety and stress.
With heat and massage working together, you’ll also create a release of toxins in your body, keeping you feeling healthier and happier than ever. Here are a few of the other mental health benefits of hot tubbing:
Increasing your body temperature from soaking in a hot tub at night, before bed, will help you fall asleep faster.
Natural headache relief:
If you suffer from tension headaches, a hot tub can help! Get in your hot tub, relax, perform some deep breathing, and let the hydro-therapeutic action of the hot tub relax the muscles that are creating the tension in your head.
Provide mental reprieve from physical symptoms
Whether your ailment is standard post-workout muscle soreness or advanced arthritis, physical pain understandably takes a toll on mental energy. While your body is healing inside the bubbling water of your hot tub, your mind will be freed from thoughts of pain. Use this opportunity to practice letting go of other mentally draining thoughts, such as work worries or routine responsibilities, and just focus on indulging in the solitude of your backyard oasis.
Find your sense of inner peace and live healthier and happier than ever before every single day with a Beachcomber Hot Tub at home!
We always want to seize the day, but are you doing enough to really seize the night? If you aren’t, you shouldn’t feel alone. According to the National Sleep Foundation, approximately 132 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders like insomnia more than one night a week. So what are a few of the steps you can take to ensure a good night’s rest? With over 90 known sleep disorders today, we need all the help we can get!
Natural Solutions For A Better Sleep
Physical activity has been shown to be very beneficial to your sleep. Exercise increases the quality and duration of sleep by boosting the production of serotonin in the brain and decreasing levels of cortisol, better known as the stress hormone. However, it is important to maintain a moderate-intensity exercise and not overdo it.
Get On A Schedule
Most people find that one of the best ways to build out a smooth sleep cycle is by following a schedule. The more consistent you are with your bed and wake-up times, the easier it will be for your body to follow. Your body has it’s own regulatory cycle, so use the most of it.
Using A Beachcomber Hot Tub
At night, our body temperatures naturally drop, which signals the production of melatonin, better known as the sleeping hormone. Soaking in a hot tub raises your body temperature, and exiting will more rapidly cool it down, triggering a faster production of melatonin, better preparing your body for sleep. This sensation improves your circulation and helps your body release endorphins that allow you to relax and fall asleep not only faster but also sleep through the night soundly.
So, next time you want to watch late-night television, think about the benefits of clearing your body and mind in a Beachcomber Hot Tub before bed instead. Don’t just look at a Beachcomber Hot Tub as an investment into a good time, look at it as an investment into good health, and use it every single day as part of your routine to achieve the best results.

Sometimes, taking just a little time out for ourselves can make a huge impact on the rest of the day. Meditation has long been shown to cleanse and nourish from within. It can help you feel a sense of calm and clarity, and tackle whatever the day brings more effectively.
Combining it with a soak in your Beachcomber Hot Tub® can do wonders for your body and mind.
Here’s a few tips to get you started in your hot tub meditation practice:
Create the Perfect Environment
Start by ensuring your hot tub is set to a comfortable temperature and try to choose a time when you know it will be quieter, with less distractions, in your outdoor space. While you don’t have to turn off the jets, you might find it easier to start with quieter surroundings.
Other helpful tips include adding SOFT to your hot tub, which is a water enhancer that is amazing for moisturizing skin and improving the quality of your hot tub water, and investing in a bottle of JUDY Scentsations, offering soothing aromatherapy for your water, without affecting the water pH balance.
Get Comfortable & Relax!
To get into the right mindset, start by taking deep breathes, and letting go of your thoughts, and distractions. Don’t think of one thing, try to think of nothing, and let yourself become enveloped by the soft, therapeutic waters. If you are just starting out, we recommend trying 5 – 8 minutes of meditation. You might have a harder time getting into it at first, but like the age old saying, practice makes perfect. Once you feel comfortable in your ability to let go of your surroundings, try to stay in it a bit longer. Moving up to 15 minutes a day has been shown to have the biggest pay-offs in your overall mental clarity.

STEP A: Remove & Soak
To remove the MICROFILTER™, twist the trim ring counter clockwise to unlock it and remove along with the floating weir ass mbly. Lift out the basket, and pull out the MICROFILTER™. Before draining your hot tub, simply add Beachcomber’s PIPE CLEANSE to your hot tub water and let the product circulate for at least 12 hours. This product flushes out an amazing amount of biofilm and bather waste from pipes, leaving a cleaner hot tub for a better experience. Test water for any sanitizer level and if present add NEUTRALIZER as directed to allow for environmentally safe dumping of water.
PIPE CLEANSEis a very effective pipe cleaner that is formulated to loosen and dislodge biofilm deposits deep in the internal water lines of your hot tub just before draining. For best results, follow directions on the label.
NEUTRALIZER completely neutralizes active chlorine or bromine in hot tub water, making it safe and environmentally friendly to drain. It is concentrated and will instantly neutralize, or reduce your sanitizer level. Always, follow the directions on the label.
STEP C: Drain & Clean
Turn power off at the breaker or power disconnect switch. Locate the black DRAIN & FILL valve, found inside behind the door on a portable LEEP™ model or under the step on the Hybrid3™ Edition. Remove the safety cap from the fitting threaded into the valve.
Attach the female end of your garden hose and place the other end at a level lower than the DRAIN & FILL valve to
ensure complete draining. To open, turn the outer part of the DRAIN & FILL valve counterclockwise to open and start the draining. Draining time will vary from model to model. Once the hot tub is drained and empty, disconnect the garden hose and close the valve.

STEP 3: Test & Balance
Nothing is more important than testing your hot tub water and ensuring everything is perfectly balanced for bather comfort and water care product efficiency.
TEST STRIPSare the fastest and easiest way to test your hot tub. You should test at least 2 times per week and after each use.
RESIST™ helps water to resist changes in pH, and increases the total alkalinity of hot tub water to prevent pH fluctuations. Maintain a proper Total Alkalinity (TA) level of 100 – 120 ppm.

An electronic-free zone can keep the whole family engaged in what is going on with everyone else, without getting distracted by the screens in front of them.
Enjoying Family Hot Tub Time
Especially in summer, it’s always important to keep the following in mind when soaking in your Beachcomber Hot Tub.
This is important any time of the year, but in the summer heat, sometimes we can forget how much water we really need. Always encourage everyone to have a big glass of water before stepping into the hot tub, and make sure everyone stays hydrated following a soak. Also, grab some plastic cups and bring them out to enjoy a cold glass of water as you enjoy your hot tub.
Lower The Temperature
If the temperature outside is hot, it’s likely you’ll want a little less heat inside your hot tub. And it’s easy to do! Just turn the set temperature down by 15 degrees, for a cooler, more refreshing summertime experience in your Beachcomber.
Add in Some Shade
If you are doing any big activities in the summer months, it’s always best to find a place with some shade to cool off. Too much time in the sun can lead to heatstroke. If your hot tub is set-up for direct sun, be sure to invest in an umbrella or sun shade that will deflect some of the rays.
As a key component of your backyard oasis, your Beachcomber Hot Tub needs to be in tip top shape to enjoy with the whole family. And maintaining it is simple! Just take a minute every few days to test your water to ensure it’s balanced and follow your water care program to ensure healthy, crystal clear results. Also remember that right before a high usage period of your hot tub is a good time for a drain and re-fill.
