The Facts about Ozone

Ozonators emit a powerful oxidizing agent that can help breakdown organic debris, however this product does not sanitize hot tub water. Ozone is not approved as a safe hot tub sanitizer by the EPA or Health Canada, and can potentially cause harmful health consequences.

Creating Healthier Hot Tubs

When inhaled, ozone and its by-product can damage the lungs. Even low amounts can cause chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath, and throat irritation. Ozone can worsen chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and compromise the ability of the body to fight respiratory infections.

Healthy people, as well as those with respiratory difficulty, can experience breathing problems when exposed to ozone. Health effects may become more damaging and recovery less certain at high levels or from longer exposures. Beachcomber does not recommend the use of ozone due to the large potential health risks compared to relatively minor benefits.
