• How to Drain & Fill Your Beachcomber Hot Tub

How to Drain & Fill Your Beachcomber Hot Tub

With fall in the air, it’s the perfect opportunity to give your hot tub a deep clean so that you and your family can enjoy days and nights at home all over again. Doing this now will help you get through the next 3-4 months without having to drain and fill your hot tub when you want to use it. It’s also a great opportunity to inspect your Beachcomber Hot tub and its components for any signs of damage and wear. Making any necessary repairs and doing some preventative maintenance will save you from having to do an emergency repair later!

We’ve created a step-by-step approach to help you get your hot tub ready for the busy season.

    The Let Go – Easy as A, B, C

    STEP A: Remove & Soak

To remove the MICROFILTER™, twist the trim ring counter clockwise to unlock it and remove along with the floating weir ass mbly. Lift out the basket, and pull out the MICROFILTER™. Remove debris from the basket and rinse. Soak the MICROFILTER™ in Beachcomber’s FILTER SOAK™ cleaner and when finished, rinse thoroughly with a spray nozzle to remove residue.FILTER SOAK™ is an environmentally friendly Ecologo® certified, one-shot, fast acting, alkaline detergent cleaner, which removes organic contaminants and improves the performance of your MICROFILTER™. For best results use in conjunction with a BEACHCOMBER™ Cleaning Canister.

    STEP B: Cleanse & Neutralize

Before draining your hot tub, simply add Beachcomber’s PIPE CLEANSE to your hot tub water and let the product circulate for at least 12 hours. This product flushes out an amazing amount of biofilm and bather waste from pipes, leaving a cleaner hot tub for a better experience. Test water for any sanitizer level and if present add NEUTRALIZER as directed to allow for environmentally safe dumping of water.

    Product Overview

PIPE CLEANSE is a very effective pipe cleaner that is formulated to loosen and dislodge biofilm deposits deep in the internal water lines of your hot tub just before draining. For best results, follow directions on the label.

NEUTRALIZER completely neutralizes active chlorine or bromine in hot tub water, making it safe and environmentally friendly to drain. It is concentrated and will instantly neutralize, or reduce your sanitizer level. Always, follow the directions on the label.

    STEP C: Drain & Clean

Turn power off at the breaker or power disconnect switch. Locate the black DRAIN & FILL valve, found inside behind the door on a portable LEEP™ model or under the step on the Hybrid3™ Edition. Remove the safety cap from the fitting threaded into the valve.

Attach the female end of your garden hose and place the other end at a level lower than the DRAIN & FILL valve to

ensure complete draining. To open, turn the outer part of the DRAIN & FILL valve counterclockwise to open and start the draining. Draining time will vary from model to model. Once the hot tub is drained and empty, disconnect the garden hose and close the valve.

While the water is draining is the perfect opportunity to protect your Beachcomber HEATSHIELD™ with COVER CARE. Prepare exterior cover surface by cleaning dirt and grime off with a mixture of warm water and a very mild detergent, using a soft cloth. Thoroughly rinse and allow to dry. Spray COVER CARE generously over entire exterior cover surface until wet. Wait 30 seconds, then wipe dry and buff with a clean absorbent cloth, removing any excess. R-eapply COVER CARE at least once a month to ensure optimal protection.

HOT TUB CHAMOIS™. Rinse well with fresh water making sure the DRAIN & FILL valve of the hot tub is still open so that residue drains out. This helps to rid the hot tub of any contaminants that have ended up in the low lying plumbing lines.

    Product Overview

COVER CARE is a concentrated, EcoLogo® certified, liquid revitalizer and UV protectant that is ideal for all types of hot tub covers, as well as vinyl products around the home, including patio furniture and vinyl on vehicles.

TUB CLEAN is a fast acting, EcoLogo® certified, non-abrasive biodegradable surface cleaner for the removal of scum lines and grease build-up on hot tub surfaces as well as many other sensitive home and auto applications.

HOT TUB CHAMOIS™ is the fastest, safest way to a streak free clean hot tub. This super absorbent, non-abrasive, ultra soft cleaning tool will make your hot tub shine like new.

    THE GET GO – Easy as 1, 2, 3

    STEP 1: Fill & Eliminate

Close the DRAIN & FILL valve. Using the FRESH FILL™ pre-filter attached to your garden hose start filling up the hot tub. Once hot tub water is up past the skimmer, you are now safe to turn on the power.

After the hot tub is circulating with all bubbles out of the lines, add ELIMINATE™ to protect your hot tub from corrosion.

    Product Overview

FRESH FILL™ hot tub pre-filter easily connects to your garden hose and works with all hot tubs. It utilizes food grade activated carbon and proprietary filtration media for the removal of metals, volatile organic compounds and suspended solids before they reach your hot tub.

ELIMINATE™ is a liquid concentrate formulated to prevent and inhibit corrosion on hot tub surfaces, fixtures, and equipment. Add an entire 500 mL bottle at every hot tub start-up.

    STEP 2: Accessorize & Heat

This is the perfect time to replace your hot tub accessories such as FILTER SAVERS and HYDRO MOP and turn up the heat so you and your family can be soaking away blissfully in a few short hours.

    Product Overview

HYDROMOP™ absorbs unwanted oils and residue from your hot tub water to ensure the optimal water clarity and keep water lines clean.

FILTER SAVERS™ are made from a fine nylon material which traps leaves and debris which reduces maintenance and extends the life of your MICROFILTER™.

    STEP 3: Test & Balance

Nothing is more important than testing your hot tub water and ensuring everything is perfectly balanced for bather comfort and water care product efficiency.

    Product Overview

TEST STRIPS  are the fastest and easiest way to test your hot tub. You should test at least 2 times per week and after each use.

RESIST™ helps water to resist changes in pH, and increases the total alkalinity of hot tub water to prevent pH fluctuations. Maintain a proper Total Alkalinity (TA) level of 100 – 120 ppm.

PROTECT™ helps protect hot tub equipment and parts from etching by increasing the calcium level of hot tub water. Maintain a proper calcium hardness (CH) level of 150 – 200 ppm.

pH PLUS effective for minor pH increases of hot tub water to prevent corrosion and eye/skin irritation and increase sanitizer efficiency. Before adjusting pH, ensure your Total Alkalinity is balanced. Maintain a proper (pH) level of 7.2 – 7.8.

pH MINUS effective for minor pH decreases of hot tub water to prevent scaling, cloudy water and eye/skin irritation and increases sanitizer efficiency. Before adjusting pH, ensure your Total Alkalinity is balanced. Maintain a proper (pH) level of 7.2 – 7.8.

  • Tips For Family Time In The Hot Tub

Tips For Family Time In The Hot Tub

The final few weeks of summer are upon us, which means it’s time to squeeze as much as you can out of the sunny, warm weather, and those last remaining care free afternoons and evenings.

What’s a great way to spend time outside and together? It’s right outside the backdoor: your Beachcomber Hot Tub!

With a Beachcomber Hot Tub, everyone can spend time together and catch up without the distractions of cellphones, TV, tablets, and the internet. An electronic-free zone can keep the whole family engaged in what is going on with everyone else, without getting distracted by the screens in front of them.

    Enjoying Family Hot Tub Time

Especially in summer, it’s always important to keep the following in mind when soaking in your Beachcomber Hot Tub.

    Stay Hydrated

This is important any time of the year, but in the summer heat, sometimes we can forget how much water we really need. Always encourage everyone to have a big glass of water before stepping into the hot tub, and make sure everyone stays hydrated following a soak. Also, grab some plastic cups and bring them out to enjoy a cold glass of water as you enjoy your hot tub.

    Lower The Temperature

If the temperature outside is hot, it’s likely you’ll want a little less heat inside your hot tub. And it’s easy to do! Just turn the set temperature down by 15 degrees, for a cooler, more refreshing summertime experience in your Beachcomber.

    Add in Some Shade

If you are doing any big activities in the summer months, it’s always best to find a place with some shade to cool off. Too much time in the sun can lead to heatstroke. If your hot tub is set-up for direct sun, be sure to invest in an umbrella or sun shade that will deflect some of the rays.

As a key component of your backyard oasis, your Beachcomber Hot Tub needs to be in tip top shape to enjoy with the whole family. And maintaining it is simple! Just take a minute every few days to test your water to ensure it’s balanced and follow your water care program to ensure healthy, crystal clear results. Also remember that right before a high usage period of your hot tub is a good time for a drain and re-fill.

  • Hot Tubs: Why How It’s Made Really, Really Matters

Hot Tubs: Why How It’s Made Really, Really Matters

Most of the time, potential hot tub buyers find themselves stuck in a debate over the size, jet count, and seating available in different models as they try to narrow down the options. While making the right decisions here is vital to your enjoyment of your purchase, what’s visible and on the surface of the hot tub isn’t the only thing that needs serious attention.

What’s really going to impact the long-term enjoyment you get out of your hot tub is how it’s made, and quite often where.

What to Look for in Hot Tub Construction

Although most potential buyers believe a new hot tub costs between $3,000 – $5,000, the reality today is that a quality model costs between $7,000 – $20,000. While you save in the short-term on a cheaper model, you’ll end up paying far more in electrical bills, replacement parts, water treatments, and maintenance calls. Not to mention, you’ll be looking at a short-term, no frills experience with a much shorter product lifespan.

As you will soon discover, the quality in the construction will not only make a big impact in the enjoyment you get inside of your hot tub, but will also make a world of difference in the reliability, performance, and the return on your long-term investment. Simply put, the cheaper the hot tub is to buy, often the cheaper the components that were used to build it. At Beachcomber Hot Tubs, we are proud to use the exact same materials and construction standards across all of our models, with difference in price reflected in the add-on options, finishes, jetting configurations, and size.

So what to look for? Make note of the materials used as you look around and ask questions in-store.

To the average person, a hot tub shell and outer cabinetry may come in different colours but they all look the same. But assuming that all cabinetry and shells are of the same quality can be a huge mistake. For instance, most high-quality hot tubs are made with acrylic. Acrylic is a hard, durable plastic that is resistant to chemical and UV damage. When you look at hot tubs at a lower price point from unreliable manufacturers, you are likely seeing molding that is made from rotary plastics. This is the same kind of material you will find in a kayak or a portable table.

To choose the best shell, make sure it is durable and comes with an extended or lifetime warranty.

Cabinetry is another important consideration, although earlier generations of hot tubs were made of durable redwood or cedar, most of today’s cabinetry is synthetic. The best hot tubs are made by manufacturers who have specially engineered their hot tubs for superior durability and protection from extreme hear, cold, and UV rays. When choosing a hot tub, look for a model that has built in structural cradle that can support the tub with or without the cabinet – this will ensure the weight stays balanced The Enviroskirt by Beachcomber Hot Tubs, for instance, is designed to capture the look and performance of real wood, without the weathering and maintenance requirements.

These are a few of the reasons why it is so important to pay particular attention and educate yourself on the materials that are used. Ensure you find a durable, acrylic shell that is stain and scratch resistant, long-lasting cabinetry, and look for an intuitive control system that is accessible and easy-to-use at nighttime.

Then Be Sure to Pay Attention to Where it’s Made

Some hot tubs are made in countries known for cheap labour and few environmental regulations in order to decrease the production costs. Hot tubs produced in countries with lower labour costs and regulations tend to have more quality (not to mention ethical) control issues, and will most likely result in a smaller up-front cost but higher maintenance and shorter product lifetime.

Every Beachcomber Hot Tub is 100% manufactured in our Surrey, BC factory, with the same materials, and construction standards applied across every model price point. Each stage of the production is checked by hand for absolute quality to ensure we uphold our zero-defects approach to manufacturing.

  • The Importance Of A Quality Hot Tub Cover

The Importance Of A Quality Hot Tub Cover

A high-quality hot tub cover not only adds to the look of your hot tub, it is also critical to its performance. Old hot tub covers often become water-logged, making them heavy to move and inefficient in trapping heat in. Once a hot tub cover is no longer easy to move or capable of sealing in heat, it will start costing you more in heating bills, not to mention add to the time you spend maintaining clean and healthy hot tub water.

Why Invest In A New Hot Tub Cover

  • Why Now Is The Right Time To Buy A Hot Tub

Why Now Is The Right Time To Buy A Hot Tub

People often wonder when is the best time to buy a hot tub or spa, and the answer isn’t always easy to uncover. The best time for you to buy a hot tub, may not necessarily be the best time for someone else.

It starts with looking at your priorities: what are you flexible on? The delivery date, colours, size, or lowest possible price? Every backyard and budget can present different needs and desires in their hot tub purchase, but here’s a few reasons why right now could be the perfect time for you to take the plunge.

Why Buy A Hot Tub Now:

    Colder Weather Is Coming

As the summer heat start to cool, now is the perfect time to invest into a hot tub for your backyard space. Buying now will ensure you have your hot tub installed before the snow hits and it becomes more difficult, and possibly costly, to install.

    Keep The Family Connected

Everyone knows once the kids are back to school and summer vacation ends, time spent together as a family becomes more and more precious. Investing into a hot tub and making it a centre point for the family to enjoy each evening will give you the opportunity to stay connected all year-round.

    Staying Healthy

A hot tub is the perfect place to start or end each day, especially as your schedule fills up in the fall months. It’s great for your physical health as a relaxing space to soothe joints and muscles, as well as for your mental health, helping you de-stress and sleep soundly.

    Model Clearances

As the calendar year unwinds, you’ll start to find great deals on models that are nearing the end of production, and end of year models that will need to be cleared from the factory before the new models hit the floor.

  • How Often Will I Really Use A Hot Tub?

How Often Will I Really Use A Hot Tub?

You probably know someone who once owned a hot tub that sat for years in the backyard, eventually becoming overgrown and completely non-operational. Or someone who purchased a hot tub, used it regularly for the first three months, then stopped taking care of it until it eventually fell into totally disrepair. So how can you be sure you’ll avoid a similar outcome?

Will I Use A Hot Tub Enough To Justify The Cost?

    Make A Personal Commitment

There’s a few ways to then look at this question, the first being something you really must consider for yourself. A hot tub should be looked at as an investment in a happier, healthier lifestyle, and not just as an entertainment or recreational item. In order to fully realize all the wonderful wellness benefits of hot tubbing, you need to use your hot tub often – make it a part of your daily routine.

    Find The Right Model

The second consideration is the hot tub model itself. By choosing a reliable, high-quality brand, you’ll be able to focus on the benefits of the purchase, instead of becoming frustrated by continuously high-maintenance and operational costs. A hot tub is a lifetime investment, so don’t be fooled by a low sticker price, and really research product lifespan, insulation, and materials used in construction as you comparatively shop.

Install It Close To Your Door

Finally, place it somewhere convenient for all-year access. How often you will really use it is directly related to how close your hot tub is to your home. On a dark morning, or when it’s freezing outside, are you really going to trek across the yard to get in the hot tub every day? Position your spa in close proximity to a door. If you are worried about noise, then be sure to choose a model with a dedicated circulation pump that quietly circulates the water 24 hours a day, eliminating the need for loud filtration cycles.

We invite you to make your personal wellness a priority. You will find that when you use your Beachcomber Hot Tub daily, you’ll feel better and get the most out of the benefits it provides.

  • The ClearTech UVC Difference

    The ClearTech UVC Difference

Hot tub water care is more advanced today than it’s ever been before. One of the most exciting innovations in hot tub technology is UVC water treatment solutions. Below is a breakdown on the science behind it, and how installing ClearTech UVC in your Beachcomber Hot Tub could save you hundreds per year.

    Explaining UV Hot Tub Technology

ClearTech UVC works by harnessing the power of the sun’s UV light. This type of light-based water treatment is actually quite common in other water purification fields, including hospitals and commercial water plants, so it was only a matter of time before our engineers applied it to our own hot tub water care too.

    So How Does It Work?

ClearTech UVC destroys the DNA of bacteria and viruses, leaving them harmless and unable to spread. As a factory-installed purifier, it works directly through the plumbing and filtration of your Beachcomber Hot Tub. The water is left disinfected without the use of chemicals or other by-products that can be itchy, or strongly-scented.

This system is fully compatible with both chlorine and bromine based water care products, and it can help reduce their consumption by up to 70%, helping you save on monthly maintenance costs.

Quite simply, this is the natural way of cleaning hot tub water, and the perfect addition to your Beachcomber.

For the month of August 2018, ClearTech UVC is available for over 50% off as part of our Pure Bliss Bundle Upgrade. Click here for full details.

  • What Warranties Does a Hot Tub Have?

What Warranties Does a Hot Tub Have?

When you’re shopping for a hot tub, it’s easy to get confused and overwhelmed. There’s a lot of selection in the market, and a lot of manufacturers who claim to be the “best-rated”. Of course, you want to ensure you are getting the best value for your money, and that you are sticking to a budget that works for you. But, you also need to remember that a hot tub isn’t just a short-term investment, it’s one that should last for many years to come.

    Hot Tub Warranties

Something you should always ask is whether the hot tub you are purchasing comes with a warranty, and whether that warranty is worth as much as the paper it’s printed on.

Here’s a few things to remember:

Be sure to ask questions, and have a representative sit down with you and go over what all the protections really mean, and help you decide which option and brand is the best way to ensure you are able to enjoy your hot tub for the long haul. Also, look for testimonials from existing customers and see what their experiences have been like to get a better sense of the brand’s approach to continued customer satisfaction.
