Starting Up Your Hot Tub

So you’re about to get your brand new Beachcomber Hot Tub… Now what? Filling your hot tub for the first time is easy! Below is a simple step-by-step guide on what to do.

Step #1

– Before starting up your filled Beachcomber Hot Tub, ensure that the knife valves within your Energy Management System are in the open position to allow water to flow. Also ensure that the bottom drain and fill valve is closed.

Step #2

– Open the topside Air Control valves. Turn on your breaker to the hot tub, and turn the FlexJets on at the Topside Controls. You may need to turn the pumps off and on several times to purge the air from the lines. Once your hot tub is running and circulating, it will begin to heat to 100F as a factory pre-set temperature.

To start your hot tub water for the first time, it’s convenient to start in the evening. This allows the conditioning products the time they need to do their job overnight.

Step #3

– Take a sample of the water, and test pH with your provided kit to ensure it is from 7.2 to 7.8 ppm. Adjust with pH Plus or pH Minus. You may need to add Resist to raise Total Alkalinity to prevent pH bounce. Your local store would be happy to test your water for you as well.

Step #4 –

In the evening:

To prevent rust, corrosion, and calcium build up, add one full bottle of Eliminate 1 to the circulating hot tub, and wait 15 minutes.

Add 2 oz (60 mL) per 250 gallons (1000 liters) of Eliminate 2.

Add 3 1/3 oz (100 mL) per 250 gallons (1000 liters) of Purezyme 3 to eliminate scum line, prevent odours and cloudy water, and enhance water sparkle.

Step #5 –

In the morning:

At this point, you will be ready to shock the water. Refer to the sanitizer program that you are using for your hot tub, shock the water by distributing your sanitizer directly into the circulating, heated water, and wait 15 minutes.

Step #6 –

Add 1 oz (30 mL) per 250 gallons (1000 liters) of Pure Blue to agglomerate particles so that the Microfilter can catch them, to help water sparkle.

My new hot tub was delivered today. 2 things… I was told everything was set up and ready when the hot tub was delivered. Do I need to open the cover and check knife valves as stated in step 1? And I did not get any kit as stated in step 3. Should I have gotten such a thing?

    1. Hi Linda,

It is important that you open the cover and check the knife valves to ensure the water will flow through.

You can do without the kit stated in step 3, however it is important you check the pH of your water with a test strip.

      Thank you,

      The Beachcomber Team
