How to choose the water care program for you?

It can be difficult to decide which of Beachcomber’s many water care programs are best for your particular situation. Depending on the hardness, pH and alkalinity of your water, one system may work much better than another.

Below are descriptions of the strengths and weaknesses of all of our water care programs.

Care Free System

Advantages Disadvantages
Lower chlorine use due to oxidizer Less effective when the pH is above 7.6
Simple water treatment system
No chloramine odor
Close to pH neutral

This system is recommended for families that are analytical, have sensitive skin, as well as do not want to be bothered by the familiar chlorine smell.

Chlor Blast System

Advantages Disadvantages
Close to pH neutral (6.7) Add every day or couple of days
Least expensive granular chlorine Less effective when the pH is above 7.6
Easily handled Adds stabilizer (cyanuric acid) to the water

This system is recommended for families that want a program that is simple to use and cost-friendly.

Mini Disc System

Advantages Disadvantages
Long lasting tablets Very low pH of the discs
Low cost Handling of discs by the customer
Very high chlorine strength Less effective when the pH is above 7.6
Adds stabilizer (cyanuric acid) to the water

This system is recommended for families who frequently utilize their hot tub, want to use chlorine as their sanitizer, and who want the convenience of a floating dispenser. Also, this system is great for clients that routinely leave their hot tubs unattended for days at a time.

Bromine Disc System

Advantages Disadvantages
Long lasting tablets Low pH of both Bromate and the discs
More forgiving over a wider pH range Handling of discs by the customer
Low Odor Still requires bromine addition after each use

This system is recommended for families with high bather load, want to use bromine as their sanitizer, and who want the convenience of a floating dispenser. Also, this system is great for clients that routinely leave their hot tubs unattended for days at a time.

Bromo Blast System (“One Part Bromine”)

Advantages Disadvantages
Eliminates Bromide for the customer Add every day or couple of days
More forgiving over a wider pH range
Low Odor

This system is recommended for families who want a simple to use, bromine-based system, without a floating dispenser.
