Maintaining your hot tub cover is an important aspect of hot tub ownership. This vital accessory begs attention because it acts as the first line of defense. With proper maintenance, hot tub covers will last you much longer than if left uncared for. We recommend a liquid conditioner and UV protectant like Beachcomber’s “Cover-All” that helps restore and protect all types of vinyl hot tub covers from stains, dirt, dust and UV rays.
Before spraying any cleaner on the cover, there are a few steps that you need to take to be sure that the cleaning process is effective.
- Thoroughly hose down the cover with a garden hose to help loosen caked on dirt and grime.
- Scrub down the heatshield with a brush.
- Allow time for the water to run-off the cover.
- Apply Beachcomber’s “Cover-All” or other non-abrasive cover cleaner. It’s best to apply these products with a sponge or cloth. For especially dirty areas, let the cleaner soak for 5 minutes before wiping.
To prevent mold and mildew from growing on your hot tub cover, it’s best to use a chemical that is meant to prevent fungi from breeding. Once done, be sure to completely clean the inside and outside of the heatshield cover, as well as its core. Before repacking, allow all components to thoroughly dry.
Beachcomber Hot Tip: After applying any chemicals to your cover, water or any other part of your hot tub, allow 30 minutes for the chemical to fully oxidize. This allows for the best possible clean, as well as prevents you and your family from inhaling potentially damaging gases.
