History of Hybrid3

In the 1980’s, hot tubs were built with no insulation and the pumping equipment was built inside the cavity, tucked in behind the cabinetry. This allowed heat to escape from the tub and forced owners to drain the tubs in winter to prevent them from freezing. Wanting to improve upon the standard of the industry, Beachcomber founders Keith & Judy Scott had a breakthrough on re-inventing the hot tub in 1983.

They decided to take the internal equipment and move it outside the spa cavity and under the step. This allowed Beachcomber to insulate all four walls of the hot tub. By insulating the whole hot tub, it blocks moisture and heat from escaping the shell, thereby reducing heat loss. The insulation used is a specially formulated foam product that is made right in our own factory; it expands to fill the entire space within the hot tub.

Along with saving you money on energy costs, the insulation allows the interior equipment to run at a consistent proper temperature which ensures long equipment life, and maintains your desired water temperature. A Beachcomber Hybrid3 model is a tightly built, long-lasting, and efficient hot tub.

Keith and Judy’s new idea not only revolutionized the hot tub industry, but continues to this day to set Beachcomber apart from its competitors. Nearly 40 years later, Hybrid3 carries on the proud technological tradition.
