Why you should make 2019 CARE FREE!

The start of a new year is full of potential and possibility, as well as the opportunity to tackle things you may have been putting off. Like for example, investing in a hot tub due to concerns about water maintenance. A common misconception about hot tub ownership is the amount of time required for maintenance. By identifying the right water care solution for you, and planning accordingly, keeping your water healthy and balanced can be incredibly easy and take only a few minutes a week!

You’ll need to weigh three main factors when choosing your water care solution: quality of water, ease of use, and cost. While there are a few different combinations of products you could go with, CARE FREE™ is the water care system that effectively balances these three tenets of maintenance!

    How does CARE FREE™ work?

It ensures that quality of water is prioritized by combining water conditioners, clarifiers, enzyme biofilm disruptors, metal sequestering agents and multi-oxidizing components. But it is also an easy to use weekly 4-in-1 system that does away with a host of conditioning products, by consolidating multiple products into a single two product system, CARE FREE™ and CARE FREE BOOST™. This also means that it’s affordable as a replacement for multiple stand-alone products.

With CARE FREE™ as the foundation of your water care program, you can also add a couple enhancing products for complete peace of mind. If you’re using your hot tub infrequently, consider adding CHLOR DISCS™ to your CARE FREE™ program. This will ensure that a sanitizer is maintained when your hot tub is not in use and prevents having to recover from cloudy water when you’ve been away. If there aren’t long breaks between your hot tub soaks, you only need to add CARE FREE™ to your water once a week and a little CARE FREE BOOST™ after each hot tub use.

And are you thinking about everyone who uses your hot tub? SOFT™ is perfect for the pleasure of your friends and family, who will find their skin moisturized and the water silky. As a dry skin solution, SOFT™ is a natural boron salt that moisturizes your skin and makes the water silky. SOFT™ is optimized for the CARE FREE™ water care system and universally compatible with all water care systems.

Top Q & A: Balancing Your Water and Winterizing Maintenance

How often should I drain my hot tub?

With an average use of 2 people, soaking 3 to 4 times a week, we recommend draining your hot tub every 4 months. Decrease the interval with more bathers or more frequent use.

How often do I need to add products to my hot tub water?

Depending on the water care system you are running, follow the directions on the labels. Participating Beachcomber Hot Tub stores also offer computer water analysis, totally free. They can test a sample of your water and provide you with a simple ‘recipe’ sheet of products to add to ensure clear, clean water.

How do I properly winterize my hot tub?

Drain your hot tub as per normal and remove the plumbing assembly from the jet pump return line and heater inlet. Please consult your Owner’s Guide for details. Blow air into these lines with a Shop Vac, then suck the water out of the tub and from the pumps. Pour RV anti-freeze into the floor drain and secure the Heatshield cover onto your hot tub.

Doing this now will help you get through the next 3-4 months without having to drain and fill your hot tub when you and your family want to hop in and enjoy the perfect winter refuge. The Let Go – Easy as A, B, C

    STEP A: Remove & Soak

To remove the MICROFILTER™, twist the trim ring counter clockwise to unlock it and remove along with the floating weir ass mbly. Lift out the basket, and pull out the MICROFILTER™. STEP B: Cleanse & Neutralize

Before draining your hot tub, simply add Beachcomber’s PIPE CLEANSE to your hot tub water and let the product circulate for at least 12 hours. This product flushes out an amazing amount of biofilm and bather waste from pipes, leaving a cleaner hot tub for a better experience. Test water for any sanitizer level and if present add NEUTRALIZER as directed to allow for environmentally safe dumping of water.

    Product Overview

PIPE CLEANSE is a very effective pipe cleaner that is formulated to loosen and dislodge biofilm deposits deep in the internal water lines of your hot tub just before draining. For best results, follow directions on the label.

Attach the female end of your garden hose and place the other end at a level lower than the DRAIN & FILL valve to

ensure complete draining. To open, turn the outer part of the DRAIN & FILL valve counterclockwise to open and start the draining. Draining time will vary from model to model. Once the hot tub is drained and empty, disconnect the garden hose and close the valve.

R-eapply COVER CARE at least once a month to ensure optimal protection.

After the hot tub is circulating with all bubbles out of the lines, add ELIMINATE™ to protect your hot tub from corrosion.

    Product Overview

    STEP 2: Accessorize & Heat

    Product Overview

HYDROMOP™ absorbs unwanted oils and residue from your hot tub water to ensure the optimal water clarity and keep water lines clean.

FILTER SAVERS™ are made from a fine nylon material which traps leaves and debris which reduces maintenance and extends the life of your MICROFILTER™.

    STEP 3: Test & Balance

Nothing is more important than testing your hot tub water and ensuring everything is perfectly balanced for bather comfort and water care product efficiency.

    Product Overview

TEST STRIPS  are the fastest and easiest way to test your hot tub. You should test at least 2 times per week and after each use.

  • Tips for Entertaining Outside

    Tips for Entertaining Outside

Finish off the last month and a half of summer with a bang! If you’re expecting guests this weekend, follow these tips to ensure that your backyard gathering is a smash hit.

Don’t forget these important elements of backyard entertaining…

    Fire Up the Grill

Summer is officially the season of grilling. And dining al fresco is the perfect opportunity to get creative with what you barbeque, ditching the traditional burgers and hot dogs. If you have a fire pit, you can rip open a bag of marshmallows when the sun sets to delight kids and adults alike with s’mores. Don’t have a proper bbq set? The Beachcomber August Sale Event is on soon (August 24th to the 26th), so if you check it out at an outlet location close to you, make sure you enter the giveaway draw for a Performance 5-Burner Propane Gas Grill with Cabinet, valued at $542.99.

    Plan Seating

If you don’t have a designated outdoor patio set, consider re-purposing lighter pieces of indoor furniture, and dress everything up with summery accessories (think colourful pillows, small potted plants, glass vases). Incorporate shading into your plan as well, and strategically place a cantilever umbrella close to your seating to keep guests cool and happy.

    Snacks and Drinks

Keep these well stocked and flowing freely! Gather things like extra utensils, serving utensils, plates, cups, napkins, and condiments and keep them on a table or tea cart nearby, so you’re not rushing in and out of the house to serve refreshments during the party.

    Prep Your Hot Tub

As a key component of your backyard oasis, your Beachcomber needs to be in top shape for your guests to enjoy. Test the hot tub levels at least a few days in advance, to ensure your water is balanced and healthy with the proper Water Care products. Also remember that right before a high usage period of your hot tub is a good time for a drain and re-fill.

  • How to Cool Your Hot Tub Down for Summer

How to Cool Your Hot Tub Down for Summer

During the sweltering dog days of summer, your hot tub may not be your first choice when you brainstorm ways to keep cool. But think again!

Don’t let your hot tub languish until the fall when you can follow these easy tips to make it a cooling oasis over the summer as well.

If you want a relaxing experience in your Beachcomber during the day, try turning the temperature down to 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35°C) or lower. Anything lower than your average body temperature (98°F, 37°C), will feel relaxing, even during the hottest of days. You should play around with your water temperature to find the perfect daytime heat according to your personal preference and the temperature outside. Give even 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29°C) or below a try!

Remember that unlike a pool, hot tubs are insulated, so once you’ve initially cooled off your tub, the insulation will take care of the rest. Of course, in the summer, the combination of structural insulation and your hot tub cover can keep heat sealed in. So try leaving the cover off for a few hours before you turn in at night, or early in the morning. Another tip to making your hot tu95b cooling process more affordable is to keep it on with the cover open and air jets on. You can also vent your tub overnight by placing tennis balls or foam noodles under the cover on all 4 corners. And a quick fix could involve throwing in some ice or using milk jugs of frozen water (to act as giant ice cubes) that will instantly cool your soak.

Shade will also be a critical factor in making your summer soaking enjoyable, so think about adding a patio umbrella to your backyard setup if you don’t already have one. A strategically placed umbrella will improve ambience and allow for a break from the sun. Check out our article on ideas for How to Shade Your Hot Tub.

And remember to keep your skin protected!

Regardless of the water temperature you choose, bear in mind that water attracts the sun! Even if you’re under refuge of shade and you don’t feel the direct heat of the rays, it’s very important to keep your skin protected; so wear the same amounts of sunscreen you would use in a pool as you prep for a session of hot tubbing.
